Did you love high school? Does anyone?

Ok, in all honesty, I had a pretty good high school career, with some great friends and successes, but I still found a mound of anxiety when I went to do my VERY FIRST Author event. I even know the teacher - we've been writing buddies for years now.
She has a creative writing class that participated in NANOWRIMO's Young Writer's Program in November, so she asked me to come speak to them about how to revise in December. I didn't realize how passionate I am about revising until I sat down and laid out a 40 min presentation on how important it is! (See upcoming post about revision ...)
I was impressed with how much these students already know about writing (there is a wait list to get into this class, so they're cream of the crop!), and with their very insightful questions. I hope they all go on to pursue their writing dreams.
It was also fun for me to see that I can actually get up and talk about writing for 40 min straight. Being a presenter at a writing conference is on my bucket list, and I feel like this is one step closer to that goal.
What experiences have you had as a student connecting with authors? Any inspiring stories?
